Job Description

The Compliance Governance and Reporting (CGR) team manages key components of Block’s Compliance Risk Management Framework and is part of Global Policy and Governance (GPG) within Block Compliance.  With a focus on Block’s Compliance Risk Management Framework, the CGR team has responsibility for the following functions: Policy Governance, Training, Compliance Risk Management including Advisory, Issues Management and Reporting.  As part of Block’s overarching Compliance Risk Framework the team manages Block’s Risk Assessment process and oversight function.

As a Compliance Analyst within the CGR team you will join a team that provides comprehensive management (prepare, conduct and report) of compliance risk assessments, defining and creating risk methodology, developing new or expanding current product risk analysis and customer risk programs across all Block markets. The role will work closely with other members of the CGR team. You will also work with other Compliance teams to promote and support consistency as part of the broader Compliance Risk Management framework.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Assist in managing the ongoing compliance risk assessment program for domestic and international activities and contribute to product-specific compliance risk analysis
  • Execute on the risk assessment life cycle, including identifying key risks, assessing risks and controls, calculating residual risk, identifying areas for improvement, and working with control owners on any necessary remediation plans
  • Identify and implement quantitative and qualitative techniques to enhance the compliance risk assessment program further
  • Extract meaningful insights from large amounts of data and present them in a digestible format.
  • Analyze complex compliance risk topics and tailor to leadership audiences such as boards of directors, executives, and senior managers
  • Build and document new risk assessment processes in a sustainable and scalable manner
  • Access and implement excellent record keeping practices that can be adopted throughout the organization
  • Help identify compliance risk issues and provide input to the design of policies, programs, procedures, and other controls.

 

You have:

  • 4+ years in compliance risk management with risk assessment experience within a regulated financial services environment
  • Experience identifying useful quantitative risk metrics, working cross-functionally to acquire underlying data, and applying it to risk assessment activities in a meaningful way
  • Experience in at least one of the following subject-matter areas: BSA/AML/sanctions, consumer lending, consumer protection, or payments
  • Contributed to the development of compliance programs, strategies, or work processes
  • Supported the end-to-end implementation of assigned action plans
  • Built relationships and credibility with business leads, external partners, and/or regulators through collaborative and independent programs
  • Experience managing competing efforts and requirements
  • Knowledge of applied risk management/auditing concepts
  • An emphasis of clear written skills, solid focus and attention to detail
  • Adaptability in an agile and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with team members of all levels, and cross-functional partners across various lines of business as well as senior management
  • The tenacity to deliver results proactively, resourcefully, and methodically, in addition to having the ability to solve problems and help to develop and deliver solutions

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CAMS, CRCM, CFE)
  • Domain expertise in data analytics and visualization platforms
  • Experience with international compliance requirements and programs

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $114,200 - USD $139,600
Zone B: USD $106,200 - USD $129,800
Zone C: USD $97,100 - USD $118,700
Zone D: USD $85,700 - USD $104,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
