Our Crisis and Security Consulting teams provide a wide range of services to clients, including security & risk consulting, cyber security consulting, embedded security services, information services and training. These help our clients to respond to and recover from threats to people, reputation and assets.

Working within our Crisis and Security Consulting team, this role plays a key contribution to the work we do for our clients by providing accurate, timely and reliable data/information in support of the services that we deliver to clients from time to time.

Working in our 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC), your contribution to our information services and ongoing threat monitoring will be critical to our service delivery and ultimate growth in the long run.

Operational in nature, the SOC is a regional function within our Protective Services team, and the successful applicant must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, creative thinking, and a positive attitude.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining 24/7 operations support to clients in all their areas of interest.
  • Obtain recent and relevant data from open-source media to support Control Risks’ analysis and reports. The data will be presented in a prescribed format (including word and excel) and submitted for review daily.

Providing ongoing threat monitoring and providing information to clients by way of proactive and timely succinct alerts and daily reports covering clients’ areas of interest.

Prepare the security reports, in strict conformity with Control Risks’ style guide, reporting template & tool bar, and adhering to set reporting timelines.

  • Travel Security (journey management) support to clients where required, including coordination of movement of all operational vehicles in routine and emergency situations, deployment as a security/journey coordinator or Close Protection Officer (CPO) etc.
  • Monitor social media during designated events, and for event-related incidents; real-time monitoring identifying impacts to client operations; proactive social media monitoring for threats.
  • Share incidents alerts to security and business teams.
  • Complete database entries, requests for information for stakeholders, audit detail, and management support.
  • Maintain full and accurate daily log-book recordings of all communication interactions.
  • Monitoring of the tracking system.
  • Provide support and assistance to our embedded consultants and/or field operations teams when required.
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities to develop the SOC and other business-related support tasks.
  • Support business development initiatives through research and reporting potential opportunities from relevant/credible sites.
  • Perform any other duty, in line with Control Risks’ objectives, and as assigned by the line manager.
  • Liaise and work effectively with other Control Risks offices, departments and practices

Requirements

Essential

  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in a security-related role.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Geopolitical knowledge and understanding, including keen interest in security and East African regional affairs.
  • Comfortable working with different technology platforms/applications.
  • Proficient in Information Technology, including with Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).
  • Experience in successfully engaging with client relationships will be an added advantage.
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili

Preferred

  • Experience in a fast-paced, reactive operations centre environment.
  • Civilian, law enforcement or military employment within an intelligence or threat analysis field.
