Why work here
As a Security Engineer you will be working within the Security Team designing, implementing, and continually improving the security solutions identified as part of Brandwatch's Security Programme to ensure that all information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure and processes are adequately protected and compliance obligations are met.
You will help keep Brandwatch secure each day by solving complex technical problems for the business, designing and implementing security controls over our cloud and datacentre infrastructure and communicating security best practices in a manner that strengthens our culture and values. You'll have the opportunity to directly influence security best practices and contribute your expertise across the organisation.
You will be embedded in a small but mighty team, where you will take ownership of projects from conception to delivery. You will be organising and participating in regular security meetings, addressing security questions from internal and external audits, stakeholders and examinations, performing security and risk assessments on potential affiliates, technology solutions and service providers, continuously assessing Brandwatch's security posture, reporting findings and making recommendations as well as identifying weak or missing security controls and vulnerabilities and collecting relevant information security metrics.
Success in this role requires a person who is a life-long learner, organised and resourceful; an excellent communicator that likes to stay up-to-date on cybersecurity best practices, trends and technologies.

In this role, you will:

  • Build, cultivate, and maintain positive relationships with internal customers to identify and facilitate solutions to increase the impact of the team's work.
  • Be a broad technical and process subject matter expert for the technologies used at Brandwatch.
  • Provide architectural, design, and threat-based guidance to software development teams to improve the security maturity before code is written
  • Focus on ruthlessly prioritizing, automating, and scaling every aspect of our detection and response capabilities.
  • Drive security risk decisions, initiatives, and influence technical architecture.
  • Build and establish methodologies and tooling to improve Brandwatch’s security posture.
  • Use data to define and develop metrics to tell the security story.
  • Educating partners on standards and policies and driving overall security awareness and program communication.
  • Improve infrastructure security maturity at scale by directly designing, implementing, and building solutions

We are looking for people with:

  • Experience as a sysadmin or developer and are naturally security-oriented or interested
  • Familiarity with common OS and web app vulnerabilities and the OWASP top 10 automating things is your favourite way of being lazy
  • If you’ve been a Linux admin, know AWS security upside down, and know about SIEMs, IDSs, IPSs and APTs, then that’s a plus and we’d love to meet you!
  • Although Infosec experience is not required, we are looking for someone with a keen interest in learning new skills and new ways of working

What we offer:

  • Small, autonomous teams of skilled people, in a friendly and relaxed environment
  • Work with people all over the world
  • 37.5 hour work week - or less!
  • 10% of your time to work on anything you like, reading groups, tech talks, generous training and conference budgets, and any technical books you need
  • Flexible & remote working
  • Bike and tech schemes
  • An extensive people development program, including LinkedIn Learning/Udemy for every employee and in-house courses such as our Brandwatch Leadership Development program
  • Community-focused groups, such as our Diversity & Inclusion and Green committees
