Under the general direction of the Information Security Director, the Information Security Engineer will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of the Information Security Threat Management posture of BrightInsight related to our current and future hardware, software, and network systems. This position will have a strong focus on data security, application security, and threat management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of Offensive Information Security programs
  • Develop security standards and best practices for the organization
  • Monitor organization’s systems for vulnerabilities and code weaknesses
  • Evaluate risk level of findings from scanning tools to provide guidance to around prioritization, remediation, and disclosure report planning
  • Design, scope, and perform penetration tests (mobile, web application, API, infrastructure, etc)
  • Development of Red Team tools or exploitations
  • Communication findings and track remediation efforts around penetration tests
  • Work closely with key team players, such as Architects, Delivery, Developers, and DevOps
  • Configure and tune security technologies
  • Support the optimization of a cyber-metrics program
  • Incorporate Threat Intelligence into the Information Security program, staying abreast of the latest information technology security trends and vulnerabilities
  • Provide expertise to determine security requirements by evaluating best practices; researching security standards/tools; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; identify integration issues
  • Enhance current security team competence by improving architecture techniques, recommending improved processes
  • Identify inadequate security designs in systems and offering alternatives
  • Align security programs to industry standard frameworks

Minimum Skills and Experience:

  • Three or more years in Offensive Information Security such as Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Management
  • One or more years in cloud review
  • One or more years managing security technologies
  • One or more years in cloud security
  • Three or more years using scripting languages, such as Python or Perl
  • One or more years providing automation solutions
  • Certifications recognized: CISSP, CISM, GIAC, Offensive Security, other relevant industry-recognized certifications

 

  • Demonstrated experience
    • Configuring, tuning, and performing in-depth analysis in Security and Security related tools
      • Scanning and testing tools (DAST, SAST, API. Mobile, etc), penetration testing tools and platforms (NMAP, Nikto, OWASP-ZAP, WireShark, Burp Suite, etc), risk management tools, etc
    • Securing and monitoring cloud environments
    • Implementing policies and procedures for compliance and audits
    • Threat Modeling (STRIDE, Trike, P.A.S.T.A.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of
    • Essential strategies to gather events, analyze them, and determine classification and criticality of security vulnerabilities and code weaknesses
    • Privacy and GRC (Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance)
    • Medical Device Cybersecurity
    • Frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, PTES, OWASP, NIST
  • Ability to
    • Troubleshooting effectively
    • Pay strong attention to detail
    • Analyze large amounts of data
    • Communicate and develop interpersonal relationships
    • Build consensus and depict complex presentations
    • Explain intricate technical detail to non-technical individuals
