Cloud Security Architect

About the team: 

The Cloud Security team at Luno is responsible for identifying security threats and improvement areas within our Cloud-hosted resources, and ensuring that we both strive to implement best practices everywhere and detect any deviations. This team works closely with Engineering and IT Operations to ensure the best security practices are followed in both areas of the business.

The Cloud Security team is looking for a Cloud Security Architect to contribute to the establishment and development of its function. We’re entering our next phase of growth on our mission to bring Crypto to the global mass consumer market. That means we know that we have big, complex (and exciting!) architectural and security challenges ahead of us. So we need you to work directly with other architects, Engineering management, engineers, Security, Product, IT Operations and wider to help us navigate architectural security challenges and help design the best possible path for our customers and our business. 

Your mission will be:

• Contributing to our evolving systems and architecture strategy
• Define cloud security policies and standards
• Championing and designing for compliance, security, and data protection
• Integrate early into the design process ensuring security remains front of mind in all solutions
• Reviewing technical designs to identify possible security flaws early and make recommendations to mitigate identified security flaws
• Documenting and diagramming our solutions, and building up our documentation base around decisions we have taken
• Act as a trusted advisor to the business on matters related to security
• Ensuring that appropriate governance and oversight is followed for key architecture and design decisions, upholding our standards, while complementing our Agile ways of working
• Participate in the information security incident management process by contributing to the post incident analysis process to identify root causes and make recommendations for mitigation

A little about you:

• At least 3 years experience architecting consumer-facing, highly scalable systems
• Experience in designing systems in regulated markets (eg crypto, finance, gambling, health)
• Experience designing solutions on Cloud platforms ideally AWS with the AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification being advantageous
• Experience with designing solutions in containerised environments such as Kubernetes with Kubernetes certifications being advantageous
• Deep understanding of security best practices on technologies mentioned above
• Team player, willing to pitch in wherever needed
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• BSc/MSc/PhD in computer science or other technical discipline, or equivalent working experience
