Cybrary is looking for a passionate, experienced instructor to create a course on Mobile Forensics. This course is for someone familiar with cybersecurity who wants to deepen their knowledge in digital forensics. 

 

Short Description:

The objective of this course is to help learners to understand how to look for the following data on Android devices: SMS, MMS, emails, call logs, contacts, photos, calendars, notes, browser history, GPS locations, passwords, data stored on SD cards, etc. As well as understanding the android file systems, directory structures, and how and where the data is stored for both Android and IOS devices.

 

Scope:

We expect this course update to contain about 4 hours of instructor content (written lessons, recorded lessons, and challenge questions), which we estimate to take about 20 hours of development time.  

 

Level:

This course will be entry-level due to the nature of the APFS file system

 

As a training architect at Cybrary, you will create online training content which is available for learners to access and complete at their own pace. One of Cybrary's Course Managers will partner with you through the development process, support you with an eye for instructional design, and help you navigate and understand Cybrary's tooling. When creating a course, you are welcome to take advantage of our existing catalog of hands-on labs and practice tests to support your original content. Cybrary has a trusted vendor to help develop custom labs if needed, and a dedicated Creative team to support you with audio/video editing. 

 

Requirements:

- Participation in a brief audition process, which allows our team to get to know your presentation style and confidence in speaking about technical topics. Audition samples include a 500-word essay and a 3-slide sample recorded lesson which should take you less than an hour to put together.

- Ability to communicate complex technical information to a diverse group of stakeholders, including those without a technical background

- Experience in Android or iPhone forensics: Able to conduct a forensics investigation, portraying the attack map (timeline building). Preferred simulated smartphone tools

 

Experience with the following:

Android Forensics

  • Hands on experience with the Mobile security assessment tools mainly with the platform specific SDK’s like Android SDK – adb, ddms, inbuilt tools with iOS SDK (XCode), iPhone simulator, iPhone Explorer, otool,
  • Experience mobile software applications to identify and understand significant forensic artifacts. 
  • An understanding of the internals of Android application binaries
  • Experience with developing or maintaining software or firmware for Android, or other embedded and non-x86 platforms

 

IOS Forensics

  • Hands on experience with the Mobile security assessment tools mainly with the platform specific SDK’s like iOS SDK (XCode), iPhone simulator, iPhone Explorer, otool,
  • An understanding of the internals of iOS application binaries
  • Experience with developing or maintaining software or firmware for iOS, Android, or other embedded and non-x86 platforms
  • Ability to analyze and parse the Apple File System (APFS) by hand and recognize the specific domains of the logical file system and Apple specific file types.
  • Ability to analyze many Mac and iOS-specific technologies, including Spotlight, iCloud,I-Message, Document Versions, FileVault, Continuity, Time Machine and FaceTime

 

Nice-to-Haves:

- A Computer Forensics certification, such as CFCE, GCFA, or GCFE

- Technical content creation skills, such as video and audio recording and editing experience.

 

Deliverables:

- 4 hours of training material covering the concepts IT professionals need to perform MacOS forensics

 

Budget: $6,000.00
