Chartis Federal is hiring a Security Engineer to support a federal customer located in Ashburn, VA. Two to three days will be working on site in the Ashburn facility and the other days will be remote.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze security vulnerabilities with Tenable Nessus. Candidate should have significant experience with creating policies, scans, and troubleshooting Nessus issues.
  • Ensure that systems comply with DISA Security and Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Provide step-by-step guidance to operations & maintenance on how to harden systems to meet compliance.
  • Candidate must be able to provide security expertise during weekly status updates, executive briefings, or presentations.
  • Candidate must have significant experience with using Microsoft Excel.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and solve various technical networking problems.
  • Candidate must be able to review and generate technical process guides. Author technical whitepapers and CONOPS.
  • Candidate must have experience with troubleshooting issues in existing IP networks. Should be very comfortable with using Wireshark and Nmap.
  • Candidate must have experience developing Python and/or PowerShell scripts to analyze trends & automate tasks.
  • Candidate should have experience with Identity, Credential, and Access Management.
  • Conduct security testing of new equipment in the lab as necessary, following existing security methodology.   
  • Analyze the security of mobile applications and ensure they comply with federal guidelines & industry best practices. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, mathematics, or computer science is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Must have Tier 4 Secret Clearance / Top Secret required to convert to DHS Tier 4 Background Investigation
  • CISSP, CISA, or CCSP certifications are desired.
  • 5+ years’ experience in information security and networking, supporting medium-to-large size networks made up of diverse assets.
  • Security compliance and networking experience.
  • Security risk assessment & remediation experience.
  • Python or other scripting languages. Ability to script and code is highly desired. Also, able to manipulate data in Excel.
  • Experience with Juniper or Cisco firewalls.
  • Experience analyzing data from tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, Device42 or other log and IP Asset Management tools.
