As Principal Detection and Response Engineer, you will be a founding member of the Roblox Detection and Response team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Detection and Response. You will impact the company by designing, building, and operating critical elements of the Detection and Response program.

You Will:

  • Help us solve a variety of unique security challenges at scale.
  • Have the independence, opportunity, and the end-to-end responsibility to grow Detection and Response within the Roblox infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Build strong relationships with the other teams in the Security organization, but also across the company, with teams in Engineering, Product, and Trust and Safety.
  • Help grow the team by mentoring existing team members and supporting the recruiting effort.

You Have:

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in incident response and threat hunting.
  • Experience in automation in Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
  • Knowledgeable in detection engineering, endpoint detection and response tooling, intrusion detection, threat hunting, common IOCs/TTPs, and initial access techniques.
  • Expertise in security event management and orchestration (SIEM / SOAR).
  • Experience in tooling that is common to the DFIR space (e.g., Elastic, Splunk, Crowdstrike, Qualys, Nessus, Lacework, BurpSuite, HackerOne, Okta, Active Directory, Kali Linux, etc.)
  • Experience in mentoring and servant leadership.

  • A DFIR expert: You have deep experience in all aspects of incident response.
  • Team-oriented: a collaborative team player who enjoys working with others.
  • Passionate about security: You have significant experience in information security.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.Annual Salary Range$315,850—$383,910 USD
