DevSecOps Engineer (Information Security) Intern

SUMMER 2023

Beyond Finance offers a challenging and rewarding summer internship program. The 8-12 week program is offered to undergraduate students that have completed at least 2 years of college, as well as graduate students. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Applications will be collected, reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted in late winter.

Our internship program provides comprehensive platforms to gain real-life experience, better preparing you for your career in Information Security.

The DevSecOps (Information Security) team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Cloud Security networks, systems and tools used to monitor and protect the Enterprise. The intern will get experience working with Rapid 7 (SIEM), AWS Security (AWS), Application security scanning for code vulnerabilities (AppSec), Communicating and investigating incidents and findings with the Security Operations Center (SOC), Application Static Scanning (AppSec) and other applications and tools. Previous experience with these programs is a strong plus.

This internship will be flexible as either 100% remote or a combination of part-time remote/virtual and part-time in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities

• The DevSecOps Intern will work with the team on completing recurring security related tasks:

• SIEM Investigations/ Incident Response
• Security Orchestration Automation & Response (SOAR)
• Application Security Scanning
• Pentest scoping
• Security Engineering Best Practices

• They will also work on project tasks related to the implementation of new applications and systems to support the teams. 

• Infrastructure as Code implementations
• Threat & Vulnerability Remediation

• This will support the DevOps, Product and Web teams

Qualifications

• Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, , Information Management or Information Security, Information Assurance or related technical field. Candidates pursuing degree concentrations in Security related fields such as Cybersecurity, Network Security, Forensics and Information Security Management are strongly encouraged to apply. 
• Experience with standard MS Office/Google Apps applications 
• Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Basic understanding of SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) is helpful
• Knowledge of technology structures: networks, databases, communications systems and internet
• Experience with and/or understanding of any SIEM or preferable with Rapid 7 experience a plus
• Ability to participate and work well in cross-functional teams
• Excellent presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship(s) in security, engineering, network support, or relevant training / experience
• Effective verbal and writing communication; excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution.
• Experience with and/or understanding of, or knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Next Generation firewalls (NGFW), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Static and Dynamic code scanning (AppSec tools) and the role these devices play in Security Operations as well as for the Enterprise as a whole.
