As a Cryptography Engineer at Nillion you will learn, design, and implement cryptographic protocols within the larger framework of distributed and decentralized systems. You will be responsible for turning groundbreaking research into commercially viable and reliable products by analyzing, proposing, and validating innovative software solutions within a decentralized computing environment.

We are a remote-first organization looking to build an engineering team primarily focused on European and US East Coast time zones. Some travel may be required.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, C#, Go or Rust
  • 2+ years of experience programming mathematical algorithms (e.g., cryptography, machine learning, numerical methods, signal processing, scientific programming)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Extensive experience working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Have highly effective communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to understand and implement abstract concepts described in mathematical language

Additional Qualifications

  • Professional experience applying cryptography/MPC to business problems
  • Experience working in an agile software development organization
  • Deep understanding of multi-party computation
  • Strong platform or customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
  • Experience building and operating online services and fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale
  • Qualified to at least an MSc degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, electrical engineering, telecom engineering, cyber security, cryptography or a related field. A PhD or Postdoc in any of the related fields is a bonus
  • 8+ years of relevant job experience

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge and experience in the design and development of domain specific languages and compilers
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and development of cryptographic principles and protocols (e.g. ZKP, HE, SMPC)
  • CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) certification
  • Cybersecurity and cryptography research experience
  • Certified Ethical Hacker
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner
  • IT / Computing Certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle, etc. desirable)
  • Experience designing and developing projects in one or more of the existing Blockchain Technologies – Hyperledger Fabric, Solana, PolkaDot or Ethereum
  • Experience in the financial markets/software
  • Knowledge and understanding of cryptocurrency markets, ecosystem and ethos
