As a Cloud Security Engineer, your main responsibility is to drive the design and implementation of a security monitoring network in a hybrid environment. This person will be proactive and partner with internal/external teams to design and develop tools, systems, and processes that will improve efficiencies and expand team capabilities. This role will work with SecOps Engineers to design and validate detection signatures of security tools in both SecOps and DevSecOps.

Responsibilities - What you will do:

  • Analyze the current security monitoring strategy and recommend a roadmap of the necessary security controls, in accordance with company priorities and the security operational activities;
  • Expand team capabilities through planning, designing and implement of security tools and controls for monitoring, optimization, and automation
  • Develop a security monitoring strategy to incorporate the SOC to the shift left security initiative of DevSecOps
  • Collaborate with ProdSec, engineering, infrastructure, and security operations teams to design design security guidelines for resilient and highly available cloud applications
  • Stay current with industry trends, educating teams on the implementation of new security monitoring and detection initiatives, providing guidelines and training as required
  • On-call availability where required to keep the security monitoring infrastructure running smoothly
  • Work independently when required, communicating regularly with stakeholders on solution implementation
  • Ability to analyze and prioritize incidents and determine root cause and thereafter effect resolution of issues in a timely manner

Experience required - You’ll be great for this position if:

  • Experience building and maintaining security monitoring infrastructure in hybrid environments using cloud proprietary and 3rd party software
  • Solid experience as a Security Engineer in a fast changing environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools
  • Strong awareness of networking concepts and how to implement within hybrid environments
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace
  • Experience managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required
  • Strong verbal, written and organizational skills and a strong customer focus

Great to haves:

  • Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect or Security Engineer
  • Cloud Security Certification (Other cloud-related certifications also a plus.)
