As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) (100% Telecommuting permitted) you’ll:

  • Deploy services to provision secure by default infrastructure that meets the needs of both security, backend, and product engineering teams.
  • Design and implement security monitoring for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Serverless.
  • Provide best practices on secure foundational cloud implementations, automated provisioning of infrastructure and applications, and cloud-ready application architectures.
  • Partner with developers, systems and site reliability engineers to understand their challenges, work through their issues and provide secure solutions that can be adopted widely.
  • Enhance the network scanning, and cloud service provider configuration scanning to ensure critical vulnerabilities do not exist in the environment.
  • Analyze the security of applications and services to discover and address security issues, build security automation, and decisively take action to mitigate emerging threats throughout a full secure development life-cycle (SDLC).
  • Lead security projects (including security reviews, tool development, and creation of new security practices) with end-to-end ownership.
  • Develop, document, and maintain security and compliance architecture standards for cloud.

What You’ll Bring to The House

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or closely related technical discipline.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the position offered or as an Android Applications Engineer, Project Engineer, or closely related position.
  • In the alternative, will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the fields above followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-bachelor’ s experience in positions specified above.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in the following: Utilizing Agile and software development processes at all levels of software delivery lifecycle (requirements gathering, documentation, design, development, code review, testing and production support); Utilizing AWS architecture to design and implement AWS resources in a cloud infrastructure to ensure that customers are following best practices, guidance, and recommendations to develop and maintain cloud solutions; Utilizing AWS cloud foundation services to manage computing, networking, storage, content delivery, administration and security, deployment, and automation technologies; Collaborating with Security Analysts to tune and enhance Information Security solutions and technologies to keep up with the latest threats; Utilizing Serverless to build and run applications and services; Utilizing Java, Python and Golang to perform data analysis and deploy security controls; and Utilizing AWS- DynamoDB, Elasticache, and Relational Database (RDS) to design, develop and add new features to the application/platform following design patterns and best practices.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $170,685 - $209,880/year on an annualized basis. 

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
