Cloud Security Engineer

Stax Payments has a need for an Information Security focused AWS Cloud Engineer. The cloud infrastructure needs to level up in order to keep up with security threats. The ideal candidate will serve as an internal champion for configuration enhancements that will be based on recommended practices, hardening standards, and compliance standards such as PCI.

Subject matter expertise on Infrastructure as a Service using Terraform is a must to be successful in the role. Deep experience with information security components of AWS is also a requirement. Requirements

What You’ll Do:

• Analyze the environment and identify security improvement opportunities
• Champion changes to the environment and propose priorities and timelines
• Define auditable change management processes to maintain compliance
• Configure properly documented repeatable, scalable, changes using terraform Infrastructure as Code
• Working as a technical leader alongside software developers, and other technology leaders
• Providing deep software development knowledge with respect to cloud architecture, design patterns, and programming
• Monitor costs and optimize cloud deployment expenses against business needs.
• Advising the team on and implementing AWS-recommended practices
• Scan the environment using application security testing tools, and vulnerability management tools to identify configuration issues, create remediation plans, and execute against the remediation plan.
• Working closely with operations teams to diagnose and support production systems
• Automate security configurations including installation of security tools and agents including endpoint protection, cloud security tools, file integrity, and others.
• Identify integrations, vendors, and external connections that have the potential to create a risk for the environment, recommend remediation plans and execute against them.
• Configure alerts, logs, and reports within AWS as well as Security Information Event management tools.
• Identify opportunities to implement and improve the configuration of AWS security services such as KMS, GuardDuty, Guardrails, IAM, service control policies, etc.

• Implement appropriate access controls using AWS native services and other tools such as CASB as appropriate

Your Qualifications:

• High level of expertise with AWS services such as KMS, GuardDuty, Control Tower, IAM, VPC, Security Groups, VPN Gateways, and others.
• Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code and recommended practices for Terraform
• Experience securing containers and AWS server instances.
• Experience with the impact of compliance requirements such as PCI, SOC2 on cloud environments.
• Advanced experience in security configuration, and management of AWS infrastructure services such as EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, Transfer Family, and RedShift.
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic, and Splunk
• Knowledge of Network infrastructure, and protocols (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, etc.)
• Advanced coding experience in at least one of the following Node.js, Python, Go, or JavaScript.
