Job Description

Your Career

The Security Engine group works on a wide range of languages, both in our open source cli tools (checkov, yor, AirIAM) and inside the platform. We work primarily with Python, Typescript, and leverage AWS-native services architecture to support the large scale.

We are looking for a passionate, highly technical and collaborative engineering manager to join the Security Engine group in Cloud Code Security (CCS), the code-security module of Prisma Cloud by Palo Alto Networks. CCS is a module that helps developers (just like us!) avoid making stupid mistakes when developing their cloud apps and infrastructure. CCS is the fastest growing module in Prisma Cloud, the leading cloud security product in the market, with thousands of customers across the globe.

We are looking for a talented Backend-oriented engineering manager who is excited about new technology and architecture, about building something new that will become a core part of the product offering and about high-performance large-scale systems. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to create / change processes to improve the way things are, while balancing important new features that are time sensitive.

Your Impact

You will have a major role in the development of core parts of our Platform, making our product a one-stop-shop for tools that help developers avoid security mistakes. You will also help the team continue to grow, taking an active part in the hiring process.

  • Leading a team of software developers, focusing on the product’s core
  • Working with your counterpart PM to define the scope and phases that will help to achieve the best effort vs value balance
  • Leading design review sessions, identifying technical bottlenecks and overpowering features when obstacles are discovered
  • Introducing and improving the engineering practices on the team – from planning to retrospective - from testing and ci/cd to design principles
  • Working on open source projects as part of our Open Core philosophy
  • Hiring the best talent for the team, as the team is expected to continue growing

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Team leader/Manager - must!
  • Have a strong technical background as a Software Engineer, including the ability to identify design problems and challenging technical plans.
  • Experience with Python / Typescript / Javascript
  • Experience in designing solutions, selecting DB & compute that is the best fit for the task.
  • Experience with Cloud providers (AWS - advantage)
  • Collaborative, open-minded person, able to both express his views but also accept input from the PMs, other team managers, and the R&D management.
  • Strong English proficiency, as some of the team members are English speakers.
  • Have high standards and opinions on topics such as code quality, testing, and continuous delivery and enjoy working with others to raise the bar.
  • Experience with large-scale ETL systems - advantage

Additional Information

The Team

Our engineering team is at the core of our products – connected directly to the mission of preventing cyberattacks. We are constantly innovating – challenging the way we, and the industry, think about cybersecurity. Our engineers don’t shy away from building products to solve problems no one has pursued before.

We define the industry, instead of waiting for directions. We need individuals who feel comfortable in ambiguity, excited by the prospect of a challenge, and empowered by the unknown risks facing our everyday lives that are only enabled by a secure digital environment.

Our Commitment

We’re trailblazers that dream big, take risks, and challenge cybersecurity’s status quo. It’s simple: we can’t accomplish our mission without diverse teams innovating, together.

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all qualified individuals with a disability. If you require assistance or accommodation due to a disability or special need, please contact us at accommodations@paloaltonetworks.com.
