About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, Product Security, you’ll have an opportunity to join GlossGenius as an early member of our Platform Engineering team. As a technical leader, you will help to identify and solve technical and business problems faced by our team. You will help to set the foundations of our security engineering team and work closely with various cross-functional product teams so we are able to ship more reliable, secure products to tens of thousands GlossGenius customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and define our long-term roadmap and technical vision for security engineering at GlossGenius and actively support a team of engineers to deliver on it
  • Influence business and product decisions, balancing the right long term trade-offs between customer impact and product security
  • Influence senior leaders on security engineering strategy and execution to achieve team goals
  • Partner closely with development teams to design and implement security controls and processes
  • Conduct security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and risks in products and systems
  • Manage security incidents and coordinating response and recovery efforts
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and tooling
  • Understand industry and company-wide trends to help assess and develop new technologies

What We’re Looking For

  • A prior track record of technical leadership experience
  • 7+ years of experience with software engineering or a related field, with a focus on security engineering, application security, or product security
  • 3+ years of experience developing in a high level programming language (e.g. Typescript, golang, Ruby, Python)
  • Deep understanding of security principles and best practices, including industry frameworks such as PCI and SOC2
  • Advanced knowledge of OWASP Top 10 for web, mobile and APIs
  • Experience partnering with development teams to design and implement security controls
  • Demonstrated experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc), having designed, built, and maintained secure cloud platforms that run highly reliable, web-facing services
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code principles and development
  • Knowledge of IP networking, DNS, CDN, load balancing, HTTP, and firewalls
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations
  • You prefer taking projects from start to finish and are outcome oriented

The starting base salary for this role in NYC is between $198,000-$272,250 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
