AWS Security owns security for all services offered by AWS. We work with service and security teams across AWS to solve security challenges at massive scale. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and preserves our customers’ trust in us.

Security engineers at AWS have an opportunity to experiment, learn, build tools, and work with teams building new technology and services at massive scale. Security engineers at all levels have the opportunity to learn from and be mentored by those who are building and securing our cutting-edge services. A security engineer is also expected to be a mentor for others and be a trusted security advisor within the organization.

A security engineer at Amazon is expected to have technical expertise in multiple domains including, but not limited to: incident response, vulnerability management, cryptography, system & network security, threat modeling, programming/scripting and threat intelligence. Security engineers provide significant contributions to the AWS Security team and to multiple groups throughout Amazon. Security engineers are expected to develop elegant solutions to complex security risk problems and apply appropriate technologies while following security engineering best practices.

We are offer flexibility and autonomy over your daily schedule, and are generally flexible when it comes to “core hours”. We are builder-operators of our services at AWS and have a modest on-call rotation where you’ll participate once every 1-2 months.

Basic Qualifications

· BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
· Minimum of 3 years of professional experience with any combination of at least 2 technical disciplines, including the following: cloud security, network security, application security, threat modeling, threat intelligence, software development and coding, incident response, vulnerability management, and cryptography
· Knowledge of Linux/Unix tools and architecture

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of standard network protocols and multiple levels (TCP/IP, HTTP(S), etc)
· Knowledge of various host and network telemetry data (e.g. process lists, application logs, netflow records) and how to relate them to each other
· Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and driveExperience building distributed web-based applications or services at massive scale
· Extensive knowledge of internet security issues and threat landscape
· Experience with AWS or other cloud computing platforms
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
