We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cybersecurity Analyst - Senior to join our talented, dynamic team. The Senior Cybersecurity Analyst supports a program that provides cybersecurity services for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This team supports areas such security control assessments, development of assessment automation solutions, and security architecture analysis.

Duties

As a Cybersecurity Analyst - Senior supporting Maveris programs, you will be trusted to lead the delivery of our IT products and services. In this role, you will help lead and manage a team who evaluates systems for security compliance and provides findings to VA leadership.

  • Provides security guidance for VA systems looking to obtain authority to operate (ATOs)
  • Provides technical, management, and operational security control guidance
  • Analyzes implemented security controls to determine effectiveness and the extent to which the controls meet the intended security and privacy requirements for the system and organization
  • Ensures each security control and associated implementation details are accurate and security artifacts are uploaded to the VA GRC system
  • Reviews and updates all artifacts to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable ATO standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Helps system owners develop plan of action and milestones (POA&Ms) for controls not being met
  • Works closely with ISOs, ISSOs, and systems stewards to achieve longer term ATOs
  • Prepares ATO compliance and security assessment reports and helps to present finding and recommendations to VA stakeholders

Requirements

  • Experience with leading and managing teams of cybersecurity analysts.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles and organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
  • Knowledge of system and application security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Payment Card Industry (PCI), and Personal Health Information (PHI) data security standards.
  • Experience with Cybersecurity policy, risk management, and threat mitigation.
  • Experience with using the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) to help systems achieve ATOs within the Federal government is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SCA, and CISA are preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of peers and utilize productivity tools such as MS Teams to keep communications and teams organized
