Rec Room is looking for a talented and passionate security engineer to help ensure Rec Room remains a fun, safe, and fair environment for all ages and walks of life. If you're familiar with client-side exploits and tools across a broad variety of hardware and operating systems, and this sounds up your alley, then keep reading!

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Be responsible for finding client-side exploits, understanding their mechanics, and securing the Rec Room codebase against future similar exploits to prevent players from gaining an unfair advantage, bypassing anti-cheat protections, and evading bans. 
  • You'll also be regularly interacting with our community to learn about player-reported bugs and exploits as part of our bug bounty program.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH:

  • Familiarity with C# and platform-native code (C++ / Java / Objective C)
  • Familiarity with common reverse engineering tools - disassembler/decompilers (Frida, Ghidra)
  • Familiarity with common network attack vectors - DoS, Protocol/Fuzzing attacks
  • Working familiarity with common cryptography standards - encryption/digital signatures
  • Working knowledge of assembly code
  • Creativity and appetite for finding and solving challenging security problems

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Platform specific security concepts - PC, Steam, iOS, Android, Quest, Consoles
  • Knowledge of existing anti-cheat/tamper/piracy products (Easy Anti-Cheat, Denuvo, Arxan/Digital.ai)
  • Familiarity with building your own trainer/cheat/proxy/hack/bug bounty
  • Experience with Threat Modeling, Threat Detection/Analysis, and Mitigation techniques

 

COMPANY INFO TO KNOW 

The base pay range for this position is $160,000-210,000 per year; however, the base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, location, skills, and experience. Stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. We also offer a full slate of benefits, including flexible vacation, medical, dental vision, life and disability coverage, long-term care insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a parental leave program. We also offer some not-so-standard benefits, including equipment, family, and pet care stipends.
