Job Description

Our compensation team is looking for an experienced Executive Compensation Consultant to oversee all executive compensation programs and activities at Block, reporting to the Head of Compensation.
The role will be responsible for managing pay programs for C-level executives and the Board of Directors as well as assist in preparing Compensation Committee and Board materials and required disclosures.

You will:

  • Prepare materials for compensation committee meetings; participate in preparation sessions with the Head of Compensation and Head of Total Rewards, legal, finance, senior leaders, and external compensation consultants

  • Manage the quarterly deliverables from external compensation consultants and provide them with relevant personnel and stock plan data

  • Monitor and provide forecasts of equity usage, and providing expertise on equity program design

  • Prepare compensation-relevant public filings in partnership with legal and finance, e.g. proxy statement, Compensation Discussion and Analysis (CD&A), and related disclosures

  • Partner with HR leadership and finance teams to develop and enhance executive performance metrics and compensation framework

  • Administer the Board of Directors compensation program, including communicating with Board members regarding their payment elections, and working with payroll and equity to process Outside Director compensation

  • Conduct executive compensation survey and benchmarking in partnership with external compensation consultant

  • Consult, review, and approve offers with executive recruiting team

  • Support for compensation programs (merit/promotion cycles), communications updates, etc.

  • Research and network with other companies to benchmark best practices and trends in compensation

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience in compensation, finance, or other HR analytical role, with 3+ years of experience in executive compensation at public companies (principles, practices, and related corporate governance)

  • Ability to think strategically and critically about executive compensation practices, providing ideas and insights into how to evolve these to maintain a competitive edge

  • Advanced Google Slides or Powerpoint skills with a good eye for design and aesthetics to create well-thought-out presentations

  • Advanced Google Sheets or Excel skills with the ability to effectively analyze data and develop or automate repeatable reports, metrics, and models

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, conduct research, formulate conclusions, and present conclusions regarding business issues

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate and explain compensation philosophy, program design, and recommendations effectively

  • Excellent prioritization skills and attention to detail; you thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing business needs

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $167,300 - USD $204,500
Zone B: USD $155,600 - USD $190,200
Zone C: USD $147,200 - USD $180,000
Zone D: USD $138,900 - USD $169,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
