Job Description

Your Career

We are looking for a highly technical individual to join our Cortex XDR Agent team as an Automation and Tools Engineer. The team builds the foundation of the Cortex XDR endpoint agent, from security modules to server communication and task management. The agent already runs on millions of machines - Windows, Mac and Linux. The team constantly delivers new features and solves real customer issues.

As an Automation and Tools Engineer, You will join as an integral member of the development team. You will help us automate our testing and deployment processes, find creative ways to test and prove our features work (or break them apart!), build tools and tests that improve product quality and get involved in the entire development life-cycle, from the design phase up to deployment to real use-cases.

Your Impact

  • Participate in full product release cycles, from feature design to version release
  • Design and build tests for new features we’re introducing in the product - Our existing framework is Python-based, but challenges may span from writing tests in Python to deep-diving into product code in other languages across our stack
  • Help design and build new frameworks to make testing easier and more accessible to developers
  • Maintain existing automatic tests and investigate failures
  • Help reduce the amount of effort required to analyze issues by creating custom tools

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Excellent coding skills in Python
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming design concepts
  • A quick learner with a demonstrated ability to shift to new technologies
  • Knowledge of continuous integration, automated tools, and best practices in automation
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider such as Azure, AWS or GCP - an advantage
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) - an advantage
  • Experience with the ELK stack or Splunk - an advantage
  • Attention to details and high behavioral standards
  • A strong passion for product quality and continuous willingness to improve the product
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, work under pressure and maintain focus and a sense of humor

Additional Information

The Team

Our engineering team is at the core of our products and connected directly to the mission of preventing cyberattacks. We are constantly innovating — challenging the way we, and the industry, think about cybersecurity. Our engineers don’t shy away from building products to solve problems no one has pursued before.

We define the industry instead of waiting for directions. We need individuals who feel comfortable in ambiguity, excited by the prospect of a challenge, and empowered by the unknown risks facing our everyday lives that are only enabled by a secure digital environment.

Our Commitment

We’re trailblazers that dream big, take risks, and challenge cybersecurity’s status quo. It’s simple: we can’t accomplish our mission without diverse teams innovating, together.

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all qualified individuals with a disability. If you require assistance or accommodation due to a disability or special need, please contact us at accommodations@paloaltonetworks.com.

Palo Alto Networks is an equal opportunity employer.
