ABOUT THE ROLETrustly is looking for a highly motivated attorney to join its growing legal team. This role will focus on payments and data products and tackle cutting-edge legal challenges. The Regulatory and Compliance Legal Counsel will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and other teams on evolving legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services and will have a broad range of responsibilities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Partner closely with and provide guidance to Compliance, Risk, Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams on issues related to all products and features throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Review products, features, platforms, and initiatives to provide practical legal and regulatory guidance while advancing business interests and ensuring an excellent merchant and customer experience. 
  • Help drive consensus and coordinate with public policy, communications and other cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary issues.
  • Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks and create strategies to reduce those risks.
  • Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, advertising, IP, and privacy laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, BSA, FinCEN, KYC, DD, CCPA, GDPR, FCRA, Reg. E.
  • Provide ideas and insights into how we can work within the law to create amazing product experiences for our merchants and their customers.

WHO YOU ARE

  • J.D. and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience in Fintech as a practicing attorney (Mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience a plus)
  • Experience working independently and cross-functionally
  • Excellent collaboration skills to partner with Tech and non-Tech teams in providing legal advice with a creative, consultative approach
