Cyber Security Specialist

We are looking for multiple full-time, permanent Cyber Security Specialist to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer. Ideal candidates for these positions enjoys security work and possesses both deep and wide expertise in Cyber Security control Monitoring, Alerting, Assessment, and Information Assurance in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Experience in the methods, procedures and actions required to protect and secure information system hardware and software against malicious and damaging attacks and actions
• Experience with cyber security tools and network topologies
• Understanding of Application Penetration and Intrusion Testing software and methods of deployment
• Maintain environment in a safe and secure system based on sound design and implementation techniques
• Scan, monitor and report on system vulnerabilities
• Will work in close contact with the Information Security Office in surveillance of user, software and network assets for appropriate use and enterprise wide protection
• Engineer, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information
• Identify and define system security requirements
• Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices
• Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement
• Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks
• Draft policies and guidelines

Requirements

Knowledge in some or all of the following areas:

• Able to utilize cyber security industry standard methods in providing secure systems
• Knowledge and experience in Cyber Security Tools, Network topologies
• Knowledge of implementation and security levels and roles necessary for successful deployment
• Must stay abreast of current cyber security trends relevant to the client's business and system security
• Hands on experience in security systems, including some or all of the following: firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
• Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
• Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
• Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols
• Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. NIST Cybersecurity framework) and risk management methodologies
• Demonstrate technical capabilities and professional knowledge
• Participate in an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment
• An analytical mind with excellent problem-solving ability
• Outstanding communication and organization skills
• Decision-making skills

Preferred Education/Experience

• Proven experience as a Cyber Security Specialist
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field;
• 8 years of relevant experience; Additional years of experience can be used in lieu of a degree
• Professional certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+, CISSP) are a plus
