Role Summary:

  • Act as an advisor and consultant to all employees on the established information security program, regulations impacting our industry, and security awareness programs.
  • Analyze systems, logs, events, and alerts for signs of malicious activity
  • Write custom detections rules and tools to monitor, analyze, and detect malicious activity
  • Build automation for response and remediation of malicious and anomalous activity
  • Understand potential and emerging information security threats, vulnerabilities, and control techniques and communicate this information to appropriate team members throughout the company promptly.
  • Provide security component design, testing, and deployment for: disaster recovery solutions, daily operation processes, and supporting network infrastructures.
  • Deploy, integrate and configure all new security solutions and or any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the company's security documents specifically.
  • Execute vulnerability assessments
  • Plan and develop custom security solutions that “move the needle.”
  • Document procedures, run-books, and response plans within the security department.
  • Contribute to open-source projects within Censys and the security community

What you’ll bring:

  • At least two years of experience as a systems administrator or security engineer role, or combined relevant experience and education
  • Experience building security tools in Python or similar
  • Experience in threat-hunting tactics and techniques in Linux, containers, and server-less systems to proactively identify known and unknown cyber threats, advisory behaviors, and anomalies
  • At least one year of experience working on compliance programs 
  • Deep knowledge of security technologies and concepts
  • Experience working with GCP, AWS, or Azure platforms 
  • Skilled in endpoint and server management strategies, deployment, and maintenance
  • Deep experience scripting or programming in a language like Python
  • Effective at communicating to groups and working with cross-functional teams
  • Have a resourceful, figure-it-out, and we-can-do-this attitude
  • Can draw the owl

Our target salary range for this role is between $165,000 USD and $180,000 USD + bonus eligibility and equity.

We are located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, however we are open to hiring this position fully remote, with travel opportunities to meet customers and connect with colleagues.
