The Global Safety and Security team is responsible for advancing DoorDash through the protection of people, property, operations, brand and reputation. We manage safety and security risk and deliver value across the business through agility, technology, and a people-first approach. Our team strives to always be in front, and there for our people anytime, anywhere.

About the Role

DoorDash is looking for an experienced Director, Global Safety and Security Operations to oversee and lead our Global Operations Center, Risk Intelligence and Investigations, Travel Risk Management, Global Resiliency, and Crisis Management. You will work closely with the Global Safety and Security leadership team, New Business Verticals leadership, warehouse managers and associates, Human Resources, Legal, and other cross-functional partners to create an inclusive, resilient, safe and secure environment for our global workforce. By tailoring and effectively implementing policies, standards, and best practices, this role will directly contribute to shaping an industry-leading safety and security operations function. This role requires exceptional leadership, a business and customer success mindset, executive level communication skills, and a very high bias for action and execution.

  • Be accountable for leading, directing, and executing Global Safety and Security Operations domestically and internationally 
  • Develop, integrate, and oversee culturally attuned Global Safety and Security Operations policies, programs, procedures, standards, and processes
  • Be accountable for Global Safety and Security Operations vendors, contracts, and ancillary services
  • Travel frequently and be on the front line working hands-on to protect DoorDash
  • Be accountable for establishing, tracking, and regularly reporting strategic and operating metrics
  • Drive business value through vendor quality, reliability and cost reduction
  • Work directly with a large and diverse group of employees and workers
  • Oversee an operations team that maintains global situational awareness around-the-clock and prepares and mitigates risk within the operational environment for the business
  • Be accountable for the acquisition and implementation of leading technology to keep our employees and operations safe and secure
  • Get to work with people at all levels and across all business lines at DoorDash
  • Play a critical role Global Safety and Security strategic planning and execution
  • Partner with Global Security Services, Global Environmental Health and Safety, and Global Protective Services
  • Develop structure and standardize programs across Global Safety and Security
  • Work with law enforcement at the local, state, and federal levels

  • You are willing to dive in, get your hands dirty, and execute while building teams
  • You have a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
  • You have a minimum of 12+ years of security experience including 7+ years of progressive security management experience
  • You have significant experience with strategic planning and operational execution
  • You have a deep understanding of security risks across global operating environments
  • You have extensive international travel experience
  • You have direct experience managing the unique hazards associated with warehouses, distribution and fulfillment centers, food handling and storage, and retail environments
  • You have significant experience with intelligence processes
  • You have led or been the principal customer of an intelligence watch
  • You have experience with operations security programs
  • You have asset protection and loss prevention experience
  • You have investigations experience and understand evidentiary standards
  • You have exceptional leadership skills and the ability to motivate and influence team members and cross-functional partners positively
  • You are driven with a strong bias for action and have demonstrated experience setting and achieving aggressive performance objectives with cross-functional dependencies
  • You have experience implementing and maintaining ISO, SOC 2, and other relevant industry standards across organizations
  • You are familiar with access control and video surveillance systems
  • You are outcome-focused and able to set time-bound and measurable targets
  • You are resilient and able to adapt to dynamic and fast-paced project demands
  • You take radical ownership of your work and performance and can effectively give and receive performance feedback
  • You can distill intricate details into information able to be consumed at all levels of business
  • You thrive in fast-paced, demanding environments where you are often managing multiple priorities and forced to make decisions with limited information
  • You have excellent critical thinking skills and obsess over details
  • You have exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • You are a G Suite and Slack power user and are comfortable working on macOS
  • You can travel as required and can work independently and as part of a team

Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, the base salary range in Colorado for this position is $170,640 - $255,960, plus opportunities for equity and commission. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
