Security Engineer - Network Security, Devices and Services

Job summary
The Devices and Services (D&S) Trust & Security team works to ensure that our devices and services are designed and implemented to the high standards required to maintain and enhance customer trust. Security and Privacy are paramount to maintaining trust and we need to continue to build trusted products, maintain and operate trusted environments, and advocate trust to customers and stakeholders. The team develops security automation for devices & services, performs penetration testing, and handles and tracks incident responses to resolution. The Trust team is responsible for enabling business growth and innovation while honoring data policies and controls that help protect customer trust. We are responsible for defining and executing on the security and privacy requirements across the entire organization.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will own network security for Amazon devices ranging from IoT devices like Kindle, Echo, FireTV, tablets, Ring doorbells and cameras, to upcoming projects like Project Kuiper (satellites) and automotive security in cloud and edge environments


• Build and maintain a network reference architecture for D&S
• Build, deploy and maintain network security policies and procedures that enable D&S teams to focus on building for our customers
• Partner with engineering teams to remediate AWS and network security risks for new/existing applications with solutions that can scale across all of D&S
• Analyze the security of network platform components of consumer services and applications

• Lead the deployment and continuous improvement of new and existing security technologies in cloud environments
• Manage risk by working with other departments to implement cloud security best practices into new and existing systems/applications
• Develop and deliver best practice training materials and to promote security awareness and educate others on security technology
• Define key security metrics to measure risk and progress

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Security, or a related field
• 3+ years of industry experience with hands-on engineering experience
• Experience working in a public cloud environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with host and network security tools to deploy in a public cloud environment.
• Experience with system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security
Development experience in C, C++, and/or assembly (x86, x86-64, ARM)
• Experience with scripting (e.g. python, ruby, bash)
• Experience with SIEM/Reporting Tools
• Experience and involvement with development team(s) that delivered commercial software, services, or hardware devices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent leadership skills and teamwork skills
• Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated
