Job Description

Huawei’s Waterloo Research Center is actively involved in cutting-edge research in the areas of data security and privacy protection for enterprise, mobile, IoT devices and AI engines among others. The Data Security & Privacy Research Team is looking to hire a homomorphic encryption researcher to join a rapidly growing team of experts who define the next generation of Huawei’s security technologies.

+ Research, design and build PoC data privacy/security protection algorithms;

+ Research, communicate, and document state-of-art in academia and in industrial in data security and privacy (FHE related);

+ Write design and test documents.

Qualifications

  • Master degree or above in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in (fully) homomorphic encryption design, implementation and optimization.
  • Experience in group theory, lattice-based cryptography, computer arithmetic, and high-performance computing.
  • Have a good understanding of (fully) homomorphic encryption algorithms like BGV, BFV, and CKKS etc.
  • Have a good understanding of (fully) homomorphic encryption operations like key switching, slot rotation/permutation and bootstrapping.
  • Self-starter, produces good quality code with proper testing and internal documentation
  • Ability to quickly analyze and grasp key concepts in hardware specification documents, academic publications and industry white papers

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with (fully) homomorphic encryption libraries (e.g. SEAL, HElib) and other (F)HE applications.
  • Experience with cryptographic hardware accelerator implementation (e.g. ECC, ECDHA, RSA)
  • Knowledge of GPU acceleration for ML applications
  • Experience with cryptographic libraries (e.g. OpenSSL, LibreSSL, mbed TLS)
  • Experience with server hardware virtualization technologies such as KVM/QEMU or Xen
  • Experience with isolation technologies, such as secure containers / sandboxing at both the system and application levels beneficial.
  • Knowledge of trusted execution environments (TEE) such as ARM TrustZone or Intel SGX
