Job Description

What's this role?

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Security Operations with experience maturing and growing a Security Operations Center (SOC) across multiple international subsidiaries. Do you find joy in managing a team of security professionals who spend their days threat hunting, responding to cyber incidents, triaging alerts, building automations and generally keeping the business safe? If so, this could be the perfect match.

You will be responsible for ensuring that Etsy has an effective security monitoring program and responds efficiently to incidents.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Head of Security and the base salary range will be 174,000 - 226,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based. What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Managing the team that deploys and maintains Etsy's fleet telemetry tooling, triages alerts and employee reports, creates and tunes detection rules, investigates potential incidents, and implements preventative controls.
  • As part of the Etsy Security Leadership Team, you will consult and participates in decision-making that affects the security posture of Etsy and our House of Brands.
  • You'll report on the health of the security monitoring program across the house of brands, including metrics as well as incident summaries and elevated risks.
  • You'll seek opportunities to collaborate with closely related teams (such as IT and Security Engineering) to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and to develop solid partnerships to get the best work done.
  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

 

Qualifications

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • You have 4+ years of management experience where you've built and led a team with a diverse set of security skills.
  • You have experience managing across subsidiaries, and if they are international that is also a bonus!
  • You've managed a team which is responsible for developing and maintaining security SOPs, IRPs, and playbooks.
  • You have experience with incident response at a business of similar size and scale of Etsy.
  • You understand how to define methods and metrics for measuring impact of new EDR program
  • You are able to effectively collaborate with Security leadership team to align on priorities, security risks, OKRs, and org-wide initiatives.
  • You want to learn! You'll come ready to learn all about Etsy Security and our house of brands partnerships.
