We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Vulnerability Assessment Analyst to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.

The Vulnerability Assessment Analyst will support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC).

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Scan/Assessment Coordination, Execution, Reporting, and Maintenance:
    • Coordinate CSOC-managed network scans and assessments with field points of contact
    • Review and verify Internet Protocol (IP) ranges to be scanned
    • Review and select appropriate scan policy(s)
    • Coordinate with network and team personnel as required
    • Respond to inquiries from the Field
  • Scan/Assessment Execution:
    • Conduct initial system/data checks upon scan initiation
    • Monitor/coordinate/react as required throughout the duration of the scan or assessment
    • Troubleshoot any issues that occur during the scan or assessment
    • Verify accuracy of data and conduct system checks as required upon completion of the scan or assessment
    • Development of new testing programs
  • Scan/Assessment Reporting:
    • Verify report templates
    • Generate reports
    • Conduct quality assurance checks of final reports
    • Distribute reports as required
    • Produce compliance, vulnerability scanning/assessment and penetration testing data to appropriate repositories
    • Produce status reports and briefings
  • System/Assessment Maintenance and Management:
    • Maintain and manage Government owned enterprise scanning solution hardware, the Tenable software, and scan analysis and reporting software
    • Manage and maintain Government owned virtual platforms (VM), operating systems, and applications supporting enterprise scanning solution (system patching)
    • Backend support systems and Vulnerability Databases
    • Writing and editing scripts used for scanning and security assessments (Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Assessment and Analysis:
    • Review scan data to determine if the system is performing as designed.
    • Review Security Center/scanner logs for anomalies.
    • Review data in the repositories for scanners that appear to be malfunctioning
    • Review scan/assessment data for trends in vulnerability findings.
    • Review and update scan policies
    • Produce periodic assessment analysis and impact reports as required.
    • Produce periodic trending and impact reports, and recommendation papers as required
    • Development of new testing programs
    • Management and maintenance of backend systems hardware and software
    • Management and maintenance of vulnerability scanning and security assessment process related documents

Requirements

  • Previous cyber scanning project support
  • Experience with:
    • Tenable Security Center
    • Nessus Scanner
    • NMAP
    • Point Audit
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, cyber, mathematics, or engineering discipline
  • Be able to successfully undergo a federal background investigation
