The Role

We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented and driven Junior Security Engineer to join our engineering team and take on significant responsibility from day one. You will monitor site security, design new architectures and maintain existing infrastructure to ensure security controls are met whilst working closely with our DevOps team.

The engineering team sits at the centre of everything we do at Plentific and is constantly tackling challenging problems, such as online payments, quoting, invoicing, booking, search / scoring algorithms, ETL, data pipelines, in-app messaging, real-time notifications and fraud prevention. Our backend engineers mostly work with Python and Django on an increasingly more service-oriented architecture. The tech stack includes Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, JavaScript (ES6, React.js, Alt.js, Node.js, Express), AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, Celery, Pandas, Numpy, Scrapy, Git (with Zenhub), Jenkins, Elasticsearch, Logstash and lots of raw SQL for analytics. We have a very large and clean code base as we put significant emphasis on design patterns, code readability, testability, maintainability and extendability.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective configuration and deployment of endpoint detection and response platform
  • Manage and monitor content filtering platform
  • Ensure security tools log to SIEM
  • Threat hunting for Mitre Attack techniques using purple team framework
  • Work with the IT team to ensure the secure configuration of endpoint devices and IT systems
  • Document and update any procedure regarding the security, the data-flow, and the risk management of the infrastructure
  • React to security incidents by being a first responder and thoroughly document from start to finish in order to reduce the risk of similar incidents
  • Work with the business team to ensure that all regulatory controls are met

Requirements

Skills

  • Knowledge of endpoint detection and response tooling
  • Knowledge of packet capture and network controls, including web filtering techniques
  • Knowledge of security information event management
  • Experience with Windows, Mac and Linux Operating Systems
  • Ability to think out of the box with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts in plain English
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency
  • Understanding of defence in depth principle
Experience and Qualifications
  • At least one recognised security qualification such as a security vendor qualification, SANS, Security +, ISC2, CEH or MSc
  • 2 years min general technology, or 1 year security related
