Your new role:

The DevSecOps team is responsible for proactively building and implementing services to support operations better and improve the reliability of our systems, using software and automation as the primary tooling. Acting as a 3rd line resolver group for the platform, DevSecOps can expect to be spending time managing and resolving incidents where escalated, using system and/or software engineering techniques to bring the system back into production as quickly as possible, and implementing tools or fixes to prevent reoccurrence. The DevSecOps team will also support security operations by implementing monitoring and response services, in line with the InfoSec and Risk Management strategies, again primarily using software and automation tooling for detect and response functions.


Requirements

The key tasks in your new and exciting role with us:

  • Eliminating toil to remove inefficiency from the system
  • Building solutions to measure and report performance against business service level objectives (SLOs)
  • Building monitoring and alerting solutions to inform support groups if potential incidents/SLO violations before they happen, instigating the error budget policy where necessary
  • Managing the error budget policy
  • Document “Tribal” knowledge
  • Problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Escalation point to support major incidents when required
  • Being part of the On call support rota when needed.

Hopefully a description of you and your experience:

  • Extensive experience of working Microsoft Azure based technologies, including Azure DevOps (ADO) and associated pipelines - AZ-104 and AZ-400 qualifications desirable
  • Extensive experience of Terraform
  • Experience of working in a 3rd line support function
  • Experience with Azure native monitoring tools (Azure App Insights and Log Insights, Azure Sentinel)
  • Experience of creating software-based solutions to infrastructure problems
  • An understanding of the different types of toil and how to eliminate them
  • Preference to implement long term sustainability to short term fixes, automating first
  • Able to prioritise and work on several projects at the same time
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders
  • Creative, proactive, innovative, solution orientated and eager to learn
  • Resourceful with initiative and a positive 'can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
