Riverside Research is seeking a Research/Software Engineer (Cyber Security)  to support the Air Force customer on their research and development efforts. As a key member of Riverside Research, the Research/Software Engineer will work closely with the Government customer to integrate cybersecurity and anti-tamper solutions.

The chosen candidate will serve as a Jr. technical member of a team consisting of software engineers, data architects, cybersecurity engineers and researchers to develop and demonstrate the technical feasibility of promising Open Architecture (OA) solutions involving integrated cybersecurity and anti-tamper approaches in a representative application. The engineer will survey and monitor progress of current and emerging open architecture standards to address cybersecurity, cyber resiliency, cyber survivability, and anti-tamper and identify opportunities for applicability to current and future mission systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop cybersecurity tools for DoD Open Architecture systems and contribute to relevant OA standards
  • Build tools and/or capabilities in languages like C/C++, Python, Java, etc.
  • Contribute to whitepapers and/or published papers that document innovative work performed
  • Influence technical direction of IR&D or on-contract research and development efforts
  • Collaborate with team members on debugging programs, reviewing papers/proposals, etc.
  • Participate in relevant internal and customer meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or cybersecurity field.
  • 2+ years’ related experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages C/C++, Python, and Assembly (x86-64, ARM)
  • This position offers a hybrid schedule but candidates must be local to Dayton, OH area.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Prior experience with DoD OAs
  • Prior OA cybersecurity experience
  • Self-starter and ability to manage time independently without direct supervision
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with both defensive and offensive cyber tools
