We are looking for a Security Engineer to join our User Fraud team. Our mission is to accelerate Spotify’s growth with a trusted platform that provides insights and data to our partners. A key component of our ambitious goals is to detect, mitigate, and prevent unwanted behavior on our platform.
This position is based in New York but will be initially remote.
You will be joining a diverse team of data scientists and engineers that use machine learning, data engineering and security expertise to solve some of the most advanced and important problems that we face. For example:
Using security knowledge to identify new ways of detecting fraudulent activityEvolving our fraud detection platformDeveloping and enhancing detection methods that continuously adapt to ever-shifting fraudulent user behaviorsProviding insights and risk assessments to partner teams around the company
As a Security Engineer you will have a direct impact on the fight against fraudulent activity on Spotify. You will partner with a security engineer on a team of data scientists and ML engineers, providing critical intel and research that accelerate our anti-fraud capabilities.

What you'll do

  • Apply your experience and expertise in security to take full advantage of those concepts in our fraud detection platform
  • Design and implement systems for detecting abusive behaviour on our platform
  • Provide security guidance to new projects and initiatives
  • Understand use cases for artificial streaming, content manipulation, and account abuse to design and build detection mechanisms.
  • Work together with our partners to build more robust methods for stopping abuse at the gate.
  • Develop your skills working with and analyzing large scale data sets

Who you are

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of security engineering experience
  • Experience with Python, Scala, and/or Java
  • Experience with security tools like Burp or IDA
  • Experience in applying fundamental security concepts to systems
  • Experience with either client security or network/cloud security
  • Experience operating backend services on GKE
  • Familiar with working with data for analysis, metrics and monitoring purposes
  • You measure twice and cut once, placing a high emphasis on correctness
  • Curious and excited about learning new skills within the data engineering domain
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams using agile practices
