Job summary
Are you passionate about building security across Amazon and removing barriers for software engineers as we grow? Do you want to make it easier for AWS's builders and customers to scale securely?

AWS Security Assurance makes it easier to show our high standards to auditors and regulators. The goal of this role is to maintain AWS's rapid innovation by making it easier to demonstrate these standards. We have built a new team to lead this work, if you are passionate about building tools to increase the velocity of innovation and security, this may be the role for you.

Key job responsibilities
As a Software Engineer on our team, you will build and own internal services that identify and monitor security/compliance-relevant attributes of key infrastructure, scale security and compliance assessments of AWS services, and expand our ability to continuously monitor key security functions. You will be part of a growing team that has a high bar for engineer excellence, minimal technical debt, new services to build, and fairly quiet pagers. You will contribute to solving complex engineering problems as well as business problems.

This position can also be located at our Seattle, NYC, Portland, and Virginia locations.

Basic Qualifications


  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

Professional experience developing software in Java, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or other language
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Computer Science or related field.
Experience with Java, CDK, serverless, and building with AWS services.
Experience being part of a team that implements Agile software engineering practices.
