The Basics: 

At Tanium, our Product Security Intern will have the opportunity to gain valuable, real-world experience in securing business to business security focused applications. Working with a mentor in our product security team you’ll select a project from a library of prototype, internal tool, and penetration testing projects vetted by our mentors. While being supported by your 1-1 mentor and working with our engineers, you’ll deliver your project throughout the course of the internship and present your work to Tanium’s R&D team at the end.  

What you’ll do:  

  • Experience first-hand product security at a cybersecurity software company  
  • Contribute as a valued member of our product security team with mentor support and training 
  • Deliver a well-defined project that will help improve the security of our customers at Tanium 
  • Build a strong network and show off what you’ve built to our entire R&D team

Examples of possible projects include:  

  • Security review (manual penetration test and source code review) of a new product  
  • Implementation of new static code analysis rules specific to Tanium’s code base  
  • Research and implement new defense-in-depth controls against supply chain attacks 

We’re looking for someone with:   

  • Availability to work full-time from June 12, 2023 – August 18, 2023. 
  • Full-time student currently enrolled in a college or university, or recent graduate of a cybersecurity bootcamp program 
  • December 2023 or Spring 2024 graduates preferred 
  • Some cybersecurity experience, especially in penetration testing 
  • GPA of 3.5 or above REQUIRED. 
  • Clear passion for working with product application security 

Other helpful experience you may have: 

  • Being fully authorized to work in the U.S. now and the future is preferred; however, visa sponsorship is possible for qualified candidates. 
  • Prior related internship experience 
  • Experience with BurpSuite 

All our intern positions are paid a full-time hourly wage for the duration of our summer internship program.
