Evolv is seeking a Director of Security Engineering that will be responsible for strengthening the overall security posture of the organization while protecting our customers, employees, and partners.

Reporting to the VP of Cybersecurity and IT, this is a key role in reducing cyber risk across the company.

What are my goals for the first 3-4 months?

  • Get to know the Cybersecurity and IT team along with the technologies they currently support
  • Start to build relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering, product, people operations.
  • Learn the compliance commitments and how best to support these efforts
  • Develop trust-based relationships to mentor and manage employees to reduce cyber risk
  • Support subject matter experts to adhere to security best practice
  • Implement and improve processes that reduce security risk across the organization
  • Implement an IAM process to support current and future needs
  • Take on responsibility for security-focused tools and services
  • The Director of Security Engineering will focus on implementing, maintaining, and monitoring systems that protect Evolv’s information assets. This includes working closely with IT, engineering, and other teams at Evolv on the integration of host, network, and proactive security applications.
  • As an information security expert with a strong technical foundation, the successful candidate will:
    • Implement and improve processes that reduce security risk across the organization
    • Configure, operate, and maintain our security tools
    • Conduct forensics following security events
    • Ensure we adhere to our regulatory compliance programs
    • Support subject matter experts to adhere to security best practice
    • Mentor and manage employees on reducing cyber risk

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Given the needs of this role, we are looking for someone with that unique blend of excellent technical, organizational, and communication skills. The person in this role will need to prioritize and address security-related events and follow industry best practices.
  • Provide excellent customer-orientated services to internal and external entities of Evolv
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate current and emerging security threats to Evolv.
  • Design and implementation of enterprise-class security solutions to protect Evolv and our customers
  • Implement and operate the Identity Access Management program
  • Continuously improve the Information Security Program
  • Implementing security solutions in a forward-thinking and user-focused manner. This includes delivering iterative improvements in consultation with the business, technology, and other operational support teams
  • The location of this role is flexible. With a company HQ in Waltham, MA, this role can successfully be located within the continental US for someone with the ability to spend 4-8 days a month at the HQ location.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team?

  • You will be joining the Cybersecurity and IT organization as a direct report of the VP of Cybersecurity and IT.
  • Evolv and this team are cross-functional with a focus on helping reduce risk and improve the use of technology throughout the organization.

  • The location of this role is flexible. With a company HQ in Waltham, MA, this role can successfully be located within the continental US for someone with the ability to spend 4-8 days a month at the HQ location.
