Who We Are

Nuro is a robotics start-up whose mission is to accelerate the benefits of robotics for everyday life. We have an elite team of entrepreneurs and engineers, designers, and scientists. We believe AI and robotics are at the cusp of transforming daily life and we are dedicated to building meaningful products with this technology. Join us and play a critical role in our mission.

About the Role

As an Offensive Security Test and Evaluation Engineer at Nuro, you will validate Nuro’s security posture by conducting advanced attacks against Nuro's autonomous vehicles and the infrastructure supporting them. The safety and security of the people in the communities we operate in is your north star. You are an expert in exploitation of embedded and IT systems with a keen understanding of how to design and execute realistic attacks. You will think like an attacker to identify threat models and execute these advanced attacks against our most critical systems. You will test our detection and response capabilities during red team exercises and provide feedback to the engineering teams on how to mitigate or redesign the system.

You’re keen to work hands-on with cutting edge technology ranging from machine learning to embedded systems to networking to privacy. You’re a collaborative thinker, and thrive in fast-paced and collaborative environments. You want impact and to take ownership of critical aspects of vehicle behavior and design.

About the Work

  • Assess Nuro’s protections on our IT systems, embedded systems, and physical facilities by:
    • Planning and conducting red team assessments, penetration tests, firmware attacks, hardware attacks, and software exploitation
    • Identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities in these systems
    • Developing briefings and reports that detail results of the findings and their mitigation plans
  • Provide expert guidance on remediation for discovered issues
  • Have fun, expand your skills, and work with a fast-paced team

About You

  • Experience conducting security testing and assessments to include penetration testing, source code reviews, or exploit development
  • Experience in defeating security protections related to one or more of these areas: embedded systems, enterprise networks, web systems, cloud and container technologies
  • Experience with reverse engineering software using IDA Pro, Ghidra, Radare, Frida, or other tools
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts and risks clearly and persuasively in a highly eng-driven environment

Bonus Points

  • Experience with automotive industry security and communications protocols
  • Experience with exploitation of RF-based communications systems (other than WiFi)
  • Experience with physical security assessments or exploitation
  • Experience with software or hardware development
