The security team ensures our technology maintains the high bar that has earned us the trust of millions of users who are buying, selling and storing billions of dollars worth of digital assets in our products. We measure ourselves by the impact of the work we do, striving to efficiently lower technical risk at Coinbase. The nature of digital assets we custody causes our work to be focused entirely preventatively, and we fully embrace ‘shifting left.’ We’re looking for kindred souls who believe security is collaborative and prevention is the only scalable security solution. What you’ll be doing:

• Analyze security capability gaps, develop roadmaps to bridge these gaps, then design, implement, deploy automation to close bespoke gaps.
• Support engineering with implementing security fixes, ensuring security scanners are utilized correctly, and develop strategies to proactively secure their architecture. 
• Review development frameworks for security functionality, consistency, and uplift opportunities. Extend bespoke frameworks to close new vulnerabilities and attack angles.
• Educate and train product teams on security topics and skills to extend AppSec’s reach by deputizing product teams to help themselves.
• You will own and mature the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) process for the company.

What we look for in you:

• 8+ years of engineering experience, 5+ years of experience in security.
• Expertise in at least one programming language: Ruby, Go, JS, Java, etc.
• Expertise in at least one security domain: web security, cloud security, blockchain security.
• Experience designing, implementing and deploying efficient and scalable automation company-wide.
• Experience partnering across eng and non-eng organizations to drive improvements across manual and automated processes.
• Threat modeling, system design review & code review experience.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Nice to haves:

• Experience defining, implementing and deploying SDLC processes and automation company-wide.
• Experience driving cross-org initiatives impacting all of engineering.
• Expertise in two or more security domains.
• Pentesting and/or bug bounty experience.
• Experience working in a high-security and/or highly regulated industry
• Experience in securing Digital Assets
