We're looking for a Director, SecOps to lead and manage a growing team and to take Slices’s security operations to the next level. The mission of Security Operations is to proactively detect, respond to, simulate, and identify breach attempts and threat actors.

Reporting to the VP, Security and Platform Engineering, this role will be responsible for leading a team of security professionals to implement proactive security measures and react to security issues. They will build and own solutions to identify security issues, respond to threats, coordinate security incident response processes with the business, and continuously test our controls. You will establish metrics that demonstrate continuous improvements of the Security Operations capabilities and execute on your proposed strategy for improvements. This is a technical leadership role requiring both high level strategy and the ability to be hands on. 

What you'll do:

  • Improve the company's ability to identify, detect, and response to threats by leading new technology selection, configuration, internal product development, obtaining-buy-in, and implementations with a heavy emphasis on automation
  • Establish a set of measurable metrics that reflect the baseline of all security operations functions and drive for improvements
  • Work with Compliance and other teams to implement and enforce security policies and procedures 
  • Detailed process management to ensure audit trails of activities are reviewed and follow policy and audit requirements
  • Build continuous security testing capabilities into the CI/CD pipeline. 
  • Oversee planning, design, implementation, testing, and operation of cyber security processes and systems
  • Provide guidance on security architecture for threat detection and response systems used as a part of the overall security operations
  • Provide direction of business process and security architecture design as it relates security analyst tools for security incident management
  • Administer security configuration for Security and threat management platforms 
  • Present internal training classes on Security processes and Incident Response


Essential Criteria

  • Extensive experience in Information Security and at least 5 years building and leading security teams with direct technical responsibility at either a best-in-class enterprise or high growth startup. 
  • Prior experience building security operations functions for a product or cloud-native company
  • Solid experience with Linux, AWS, intrusion detection systems, network security, SIEM tools, vulnerability management and endpoint protection. 
  • Experience building processes that provide evidence in support of audits. 
  • Proven track record of building and improving security operations capabilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior experience in a technology company working closely with product and DevOps engineers on security requirements
  • Experience with DevOps environments, Docker containers, Kubernetes orchestration, Terraform, and AWS security controls is a strong plus
  • Familiarity and experience with standards and compliance frameworks including HIPAA, PCI, ISO27001/18, SOC1/2, NIST, CIS
  • Knowledge of various Security Development Lifecycle approaches
  • CISSP, CISM, OSCP, or similar certifications
