Shuttlerock is seeking an ambitious Information Security Intern who wants to travel with us on our journey to SOC2 / ISO 27001 certification. You will be joining a global company of wonderful, talented and ambitious people. We are a global organization, but would love to work with you in our HQ office in Nelson, New Zealand. You will be joining a positive and agile technology organization that is experiencing rapid and dramatic growth. This position is part-time working 20 hours per week.

We are looking for unique individuals that thrive in a constantly changing, uncertain environment. If you are an adaptable self-starter who enjoys problem solving, managing and implementing IT systems and have a meticulous attention to detail - you would be our perfect fit.  

Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills, a knowledge of SaaS and cloud technologies, and an understanding of key security concepts crucial to managing a global computing network. You will have the chance to work in the most beautiful and friendly part of the world while working with the big names in innovation and technology as Shuttlerock is officially partnered with Facebook, Instagram, Google, Youtube, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest and Hulu - just to name a few.

Minimum qualifications

  • Working towards or in the final year of a Bachelor of Information Technology Level 7.
  • Keen interest in privacy, IT security and systems management.
  • Interested in looking at problems from a global perspective while working within different legislations, cultures, languages and time zones. 

Preferred qualifications

  • A Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Level 7, or
  • A New Zealand Diploma of Cybersecurity Level 7

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Shuttlerock Data Security Team to help plan, implement and manage security controls across a number of global offices and remote locations in order to protect information and systems.
  • Research new technologies, assess possible solutions and evaluate systems prior to implementation.
  • Carry out some of the BAU system administration tasks required to manage a global workforce.
  • Learn the legal and organisational regulatory requirements, apply professional and ethical practices, and advise decision-makers on cybersecurity implications and related organisational obligations.
  • Respond to cybersecurity threats, identify vulnerabilities and offer robust solutions.  
  • Balance your workload carefully to ensure any current studies are not impacted and that your mental and physical health are maintained to a high level.
