Justworks Digital Security (JDS) team is responsible for the security of Justworks products, platforms, services, and corporate operations. Led by the Chief Information Security Officer, JDS’s vision is to become the partner and enabler for business and engineering by working collaboratively with others to embed security in business hygiene and engineering DNA to strengthen our cyber resilience. We are looking for a strong hands-on leader who can help define, build, and drive our Security Architecture & Engineering function. 

You will own the Security Architecture, Information Security, and Digital Security tools support functions. You have experience leading teams to execute and deliver on security roadmaps. You are not just an advisor for tools and services, or just working with engineering and risk teams to build security control requirements; you are the owner of those security capabilities.

What You Will Work On

• Working with the CISO to design and build a security architecture and engineering practice for a software company in a DevOps environment, and improve the security posture to support Justworks Digital Security’s vision and mission.
• Establish the security architecture practice and the engineering function of digital security, and ensure the operational excellence of all security technologies and other tools used by JDS.
• Responsible for Justworks Product Security. Work with product managers and engineers on making product security part of the quality of Justworks’ products and services. Provide strategic technical and architectural guidance to product managers, product engineers, and corporate IT on digital security
• Develop strategic plans with the CISO and the team, especially on Digital Security’s technology strategy and roadmap. Lead technical design reviews to evaluate existing security controls and identify opportunities to enhance the security posture of Justworks
• Lead a team of security architects and security engineers to bring adequate security capabilities to Justworks, covering all security domains such as network and infrastructure, application security, identity and access management, data protection as well as capabilities to support Security Operations and GRC (Governance, Risks and Compliance)
• Setting overall digital security architecture direction for the product and corporate, to ensure consistency where practical. 
• Define enterprise-level digital security measures and reference architecture patterns, and manage traceability between business strategy and digital security
• Provide technical guidance for designing security capabilities in AWS and corporate
• Develop security architecture, design, and coding standards across the Justworks applications and infrastructure to promote a standardized set of security requirements, aligning with internal policies and meeting external compliance requirements.
• Contribute to digital security roadmap development for enterprise-level systems and ensure alignment with an overall security strategy.
• Drives process improvement and control implementation projects in coordination with the larger Digital Technology team at Justworks.
• Lead a team to support tools used by other digital security teams such as SOC (Security Operation Center) and GRC (Governance, Risks and Compliance).
• Be the expert in security tooling and ensure the technologies provide necessary capabilities for other digital security functions

• Demonstrated expertise in security strategy, design, and secure coding practices with a focus on scaling solutions for complex enterprises
• Demonstrated experience on Product Security for SaaS or Software products. Have the mindset on designing the security with user experiences and other aspects to create the best products
• Technical expert with depth in modern cloud-based security architecture and engineering 
• Security Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GIAC, CCSP or CEH
• Proven track record as a strong communicator both in written and oral presentations; capable of rapidly creating detailed, yet concise written reports
• Strong analytical skills
• Exceptional organizational skills

Qualifications

• At least 10 years' experience in information security concepts, common technical security controls, and security architecture design principles
• 5+ years of experience managing and leading teams  
• Extensive experience in security architecture, system design and engineering g scalable security solutions
• Experience with secure coding practices and security scanning technologies 
• Background as a security architect or security engineering with experience implementing DevSecOps
