We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Senior Cybersecurity Architect to join our talented, dynamic team. The Senior Cybersecurity Architect supports a program that provides cybersecurity services for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This team supports areas such as security control assessments, development of assessment automation solutions, and security architecture analysis.

Duties

As a Senior Cybersecurity Architect supporting Maveris programs, you will be trusted to lead the delivery of our IT products and services. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Review and validate all information system characteristics for accuracy including but not limited to: system information (e.g. description, environment, ownership, CUI, PII, PHI, hosting), system uses (e.g. users, quantity of records, presence, MFA, encryption, DLP, DRM, segmentation), FISMA information (NEF, PMEF, PMEF, data retention, MTD, RTO, RPO, SORN), boundary artifacts (boundary firmware, security architecture, information flows, interconnections, cryptographic key management), and hardware/software baselines
  • Conduct analysis on any new system or system undergoing major change to review designs for the systems, networks, and applications containing multilevel security requirements consistent with VA’s cybersecurity architecture guidelines
  • Define and document how the implementation of a new system or new interface between systems impacts the security posture of the current environment
  • Evaluate security architectures and designs to determine the adequacy of security design and architecture proposals
  • Draft requirements to meet security compliance requirements for acquisition documentation for capabilities being developed
  • Determine protection needs, such as stricter or mitigating security controls, for systems that do not meet the security architecture requirements of VA
  • Create written reports per system on the corrective actions taken as well as those actions still pending updates, correction, or remediation
  • Upon completion of information system reviews, draft Security Architecture Validation Reports for each information system reviewed within the designated timeline

Requirements

  • Experience with VA information systems, VA policy, NIST guidance
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience
  • 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
