As a Site Reliability Engineer in the Reliability Connection team, you will also conduct and improve incident response and analysis workshops and provide training and education to the internal teams.  In your work, you’ll help teams deliver a great customer experience through a better understanding of the behavior and operation of their systems.
You’ll be joining a motivated and passionate team of experienced Engineers who work hard, take #ownership and  #challenge while enjoying a close, supportive, and social team environment. You’ll also be responsible for the development and maintenance of our incident response tools. You’ll work with .NET Core, React, Kubernetes, AWS and more. You will help automate and maintain our infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines with infrastructure-as-code solutions. 

What you'll do in the team:

  • Empower all Xero engineers to create more efficient, scalable and reliable applications for Xero's customers.
  • Support our product teams with advanced troubleshooting and techniques for identifying issues.
  • Help teams learn from incidents by facilitating incident reviews.
  • Improve on Xero's incident management and analysis tools to enable faster problem detection, recovery and learning.
  • Participate in Chaos Engineering and other Resilience activities.
  • Work towards participating in the SRE on-call rotation to help facilitate speedy incident resolution.
  • Develop and grow other Xero engineers through technical coaching and mentorship.

What you'll bring to Xero:

  • Experience with SRE, DevOps, SaaS development or have a passion to improve in these areas.
  • Preferably experience working as a reliability/chaos engineer and/or strong knowledge of SRE principles.
  • Ideally experience in an object-oriented programming language like C#, Java etc. or proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python etc.
  • Preferably experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Preferably experience working on-call and managing incidents.
  • The ability to engage, influence and build relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • An interest in conducting and improving incident response workshops and providing training to the internal product teams.
  • A passion for continuous learning and growth.
