Job summary
The global national security, defense, and law enforcement business (not including the US) exceeds $50B in annual IT infrastructure and infrastructure services spend. To earn trust and accelerate customer and key industry partner adoption of AWS Regions and services worldwide, we are seeking recognized subject matter experts with backgrounds delivering mission outcomes, guiding digital transformation thinking to include commercial cloud adoption with specific emphasis on advancing operational security and mission capabilities.

Delivering technical and operational security outcomes while also addressing common security and regulatory compliance is essential to earning trust. National security, defense, and law enforcement customers rely on persons with subject matter expertise and practical hands-on experience architecting for, assessing, advancing operational security practices, and building operational security programs in hyper-scale commercial cloud to guide them in their own digital transformation to the cloud.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen, must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. In compliance with the U.S. government requirement that employees of its contractors, and employees who work on or in connection with U.S government contracts must receive the COVID-19 vaccine, this position may require that the candidate selected be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. A person is considered fully vaccinated by completing the full regimen of the COVID-19 vaccine (two doses for Pfizer or Moderna and one dose for Johnson & Johnson)

Key job responsibilities
This is a senior individual contributor role providing directional thought leadership. You will bring your voice and your demonstrated experience to a diverse global team. You will bring deep subject matter expertise and practical hands on experience delivering secure, accredited mission applications. You will provide your experience delivering secure mission outcomes within hyper-scale commercial cloud environments to answer diverse technical and operational security questions raised by senior security practitioners and executives in government and key industry partners. You will work in a global collaborative environment to learn from and replicate lessons learned, successful cloud transformation initiatives, and key industry partners specific to or readily adapted to meet the unique challenges and opportunities presented to national security, defense, law enforcement, and public safety customers.

The team is comprised of similar senior subject matter experts. Together we enable global (e.g., non-US specific) national security, defense, and national law enforcement customers to present and resolve misconceptions, understand and built trust, and move forward with sensitive and highly-regulated government applications with confidence within AWS hyper-scale commercial cloud regions worldwide.


A day in the life
We engage virtually from locations around the world and in person. We work with executive government leaders and key industry partners. We travel to support direct customer engagements in Europe, Asia, North and Latin America. This is a global team. We work across time zones.

About the team
Our team is comprised of senior subject matter experts with diverse backgrounds. Together we enable global national security, defense, and national law enforcement customers to present and resolve misconceptions, understand and built trust, and move forward with sensitive and highly-regulated government applications with confidence within AWS hyper-scale commercial cloud regions worldwide. While we are not specifically focused on US national security, defense, and national law enforcement, we do collaborate with essential US stakeholders as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years national security, defense and or law enforcement domain knowledge resulting from time in government and or direct support to government customers to own and deliver national security, defense, and or law enforcement program outcomes.
• 5+ years demonstrated experience defining enterprise level technical (e.g. tools and automation focused) and operational (e.g. people and process focused) security programs.
• Technical Degree (Computer Science, Math, Engineering or equivalent) and/or relevant subject matter specific experience.
• Fluent English: Written and Verbal Skills.
• Passion for technology and for learning.

• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above

Preferred Qualifications

• Existing advanced AWS certification ( e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps, Application Development, Etc.) and or other commercial cloud provider certifications.
• Working knowledge of cloud native architectures.
• Working knowledge of common security compliance and accreditation practices, security risk management frameworks, and associated security controls.
• Public speaking certification and or relevant experience presenting technical, security compliance related material to large groups, i.e. in excess of 50 persons.
• Experience working in a customer-facing role.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
