Summary
This role's typical day is logging into network devices for customer environments to stage the destination DC with new FW configs, aggrs etc. There is the occasional customer meeting, and migration prep via automation tooling. 
The Senior Infrastructure Network Security Engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers via the phone, ticketing system, and automation. This role owns complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve and keeps our customers updated through every step of the process. The Senior Infrastructure Network Security Engineer is expected to take initiative and advice on potential pitfalls that a customer may encounter and suggest alternatives, which may better serve the stability and security of the customer's solution. Technical issues can include troubleshooting customer network environments including firewall configurations, VPN technologies, access-control lists, VIP configurations, TCL (iRule) and Perl scripts, layer 4 thru 7 issues. The role will also support many elements of the Rackspace Cloud product portfolio, including RackConnect. Single customer solutions are not the key to this role, but the starting point. As a Senior Engineer, the coding impacts that solve one customer should then be expanded to impact all similar customers. The Senior Infrastructure Network Security Engineer will create and maintain customer loyalty by providing Fanatical Support above and beyond customer expectations.
Job Description
•Provide exceptional customer support via the phone and ticketing system•Own level-appropriate customer requests and issues, seeing them through to resolution•Escalate support requests to next level engineers and other support teams according to escalation procedures•Troubleshoot monitoring alerts and create tickets accordingly•Schedule and coordinate level-appropriate maintenances•Monitor ticket response times and take appropriate actions to ensure team response time targets are met•Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants to build strong customer relationships•Collaborate and share knowledge with other Engineers on the support floor•Review and sign off on defined policy and process standards•Ticket Contribution and Phone Availability: Working as a team to serve our customers, helping the overall team hit their metrics and maintaining individual metrics to be in line with peers.•Customer rating on work done•Solutions created that and be used for massive updating, auditing and data gathering across all customers infrastructure.•Geographical remit – Americas or International customer base knowledge•Level-appropriate knowledge of and/or professional experience with:
The Senior Infrastructure Network Security Engineer has an advanced knowledge of:•Core•NSI•SNOW•Infrastructure Automation (Ansible, Chef, Salt, etc)•Firewalls (Cisco ASA, ASA-X and Juniper SRX)•IPSEC and SSL VPN technologies•Modular Policy Framework (MPF) configuration•Understanding of network packet analysis via tools such as wireshark•Services and protocols commonly used in hosting environments: web servers, database servers, mail servers, name servers.•Load balancers (F5 LTM, F5 GTM and Brocade ADX)•HTTP Protocol•Secure Socket Layer (SSL)•Create and troubleshoot iRules and CSW policies•DNS•Understanding of network packet analysis via tools such as wireshark and TCP dump•Services and protocols commonly used in hosting environments: web servers, database servers, mail servers, name servers.•Networking concepts and devices [All OSI Layers]•Mentor junior engineers

The ideal candidate possesses:
•A minimum of three years’ experience in a related field•A computer-related degree and/or network certifications (CCNA Required)•Previous Project Management experience from conception to completion•Excellent written and verbal communication skills (fluency in multiple languages is a plus)•A willingness to work weekends and/or holidays when required as the business dictatesThe following information is required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act and applies only to individuals working in the state of Colorado. The anticipated starting pay range of Colorado applicants for this role is $81,600-$105,800.
Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Information on Benefits –offered.
