Riverside Research is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO), responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for Air Force information systems supporting national security interests. Responsibilities also include physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training and awareness. As an ISSO, you would design, implement and handle accreditations for standalone development networks. Additionally, you will play an active role in monitoring systems and their environment of operation to include developing and updating the System Security Plan (SSP), managing and controlling changes to the system(s), and assessing the security impact of those changes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an ISSO, coordinating, executing, and managing cybersecurity assessment & authorization (A&A) related activities supporting hardware, software, and connectivity capabilities in support of mission and business requirements
  • Provide cyber security expertise for customer-acquired development and systems maintenance projects, driving and monitoring system authorization status of segment components, authoring and coordinating related documentation
  • Facilitate, perform, and manage actions necessary to maintain system and capability accreditation status consistent with DoDI 8510.01 (Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT)), including scanning, auditing, and authoring/coordinating security accreditation-related documentation
  • Work with the Security Representative and government stakeholders to pass vault accreditations and inspections
  • Review and advise on security aspects of contracted maintenance deliverables and proposals
  • Present system maintenance, authorization status, and potential issues to leadership
  • Keep customer leadership aware of any roadblocks, issues, or concerns with system authorization status
  • Ensure audit logs are collected, reviewed, and documented appropriately
  • Initiate exceptions, deviations, or waivers to cybersecurity requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related technical degree
  • 5+ years of IT/security-related experience
  • 3+ years of ISSO experience
  • Experience working in a classified environment consisting of Collateral, SCI and  SAP required
  • COMPTIA Security+ certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level I equivalent certification
  • Experience with NIST 800-53 (RMF)
  • Practical knowledge of client, server, data storage, and networking technologies
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal direction

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a technical field
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to work and interact with technically and organizationally diverse personnel
