About the role

The Person

As an Operations Network Engineer you will be an enthusiastic team player who understands what needs to be done to provide outstanding customer service to our clients. You will have a strong understanding of Networking principles with practical application across a range of technologies i.e. Switching and Routing, WiFi, Load Balancers, Web Proxy, Firewalls and Cloud. We need people who can engage with our customers, third party vendors and other Datacom teams to troubleshoot technical issues, representing Datacom Networks in a technically strong and professional manner.

To join our team, you’ll firstly need to be a team player with a collaborative working style who communicates openly and honestly; a Can-Do Attitude is essential. Secondly, you’ll be technically strong and have the right attitude towards professional development. You will lead by example and guide your less experienced peers in delivering first class service for Datacom’s customers, across a broad spectrum of networking vendors and disciplines.

For this role, we are seeking a qualified Network Engineer with at least 3 years’ experience, across all areas of Network and Network Security Operations Management.


Ideally You Will Have:

A combination of the following skills:

  • Switching and Routing: Cisco, Fortinet (Desirable)
  • Software Defined Networking: Cisco, Fortinet (Desirable)
  • Firewall/Security: Checkpoint, Fortinet, Palo Alto, ZScaler (Desirable)
  • Load Balancing: F5, Citrix Netscaler (Desirable)
  • Wireless: Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet (Desirable)
  • Cloud Solutions: AWS, Azure (Desirable)

Due to the nature of our clients, this role will require that you have the ability to pass New Zealand security clearance. You must hold either Permanent Residence/Citizenship and have been in New Zealand or its 5eyes counterparts at least 2 years.
