Team & Work Summary: 

Our Security Analyst Platform team builds the central flywheel of our detection engine, providing Abnormal the ability to continually optimize our models with refreshed data and signals. This tight-knit team is rapidly looking to grow and is looking for a Lead Backend Application Engineer who will partner with the Manager to lead/mentor this capable team through an example of excellence. 

To qualify, you’ll need:

• 6+ years of professional software engineering/development experience 
• 1+ year of experience as a Team or Tech Lead over those same teams (or similar hands-on engineering leadership role)
• To enjoy taking ownership of unique and complex engineering challenges, including architecture & implementation of applications to process MILLIONS of messages a day.  
• Be willing to mentor, lead, move with velocity, fail graciously, and iterate blamelessly
• Be able to work with (and lead) cross-functional teams to achieve unified success across multi-quarter objectives and roadmaps
• Have strong skills in Backend Application Engineering using similar technologies as found in Abnormal
  
  • Python (experience with Django or Flask is required)
  • Kafka (or similar queueing solutions)
  • Postgres (or similar DB solutions)
  • Cloud Native Tools & Technologies (AWS & Azure, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, etc.)
• To live & work in US or Canada 
• To have a bachelor’s or master's degree (likely in Computer Science)
