The Team:
The Security of Secrets (SOS) team is responsible for safeguarding our secrets. We are looking for strong candidates to define, own, and deliver software solutions for the program over the next few years. We will be working with a wide variety of teams throughout the organization to understand their secrets usage and deliver transparent yet robust solutions. At the same time, we want to share our knowledge publicly so that not only our customers have increased confidence in us, but so that we help the rest of the industry meet their own security of secrets needs.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Team Lead who will help us manage our growing list of highly challenging and demanding technical projects.
You Will:
- Remotely managing projects for a team of geographically distributed software and security engineers (currently from Eastern Time to Central European Time)
- Lead and develop a team of engineers to solve complex challenges
- Translating high-level initiatives into concrete deliverables
- Writing well-tested, secure, and performant code
- Writing and reviewing technical documentation
- Unblocking technical decisions and being a technical mentor/coach
- Participating in on-call rotation along with other team members
- Commanding security and operational incidents
- Contributing to the open source community
You Are:
- A team lead for at least 1-2 years
- An owner responsible for at least 2-3 business-critical projects/products
- Experienced with agile frameworks such as Kanban or Scrum, processes such as sprints and technical retrospectives, as well as tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Miro
- Proficient in a common programming language (such as Go, Java, or Python) with a willingness to learn Go, if necessary
- A writer of good technical documentation
- A master of DevOps and deploying your own apps using cloud-native technologies such as Bazel, Docker, gRPC, Helm, k8s, Protobuf, and Terraform
- Skilled in cloud service providers such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
- A fast learner who is able to pick up new ideas in software and security on the fly
- Confident representing your ideas and opinions in a manner that can be challenged, while responding well to feedback
- Comfortable working independently
Bonus Points:
- Proven experience leading geographically distributed teams
- Are passionate about building products that engineers love and believe in the true outcome of security
- Experienced with the Datadog line of products
- Familiar with management frameworks such as Objective and Key Results (OKRs)
- Familiar with security fundamentals, especially applied cryptography
- Experienced in handling security of secrets at previous employments
- Experienced with secrets management systems such as Hashicorp Vault, AWS KMS, GCP KMS, and Azure Key Vault

These considerations potentially can cause your compensation to vary.
The Team Lead, Security Engineering - Security of Secrets role has an annual starting salary of $200,000, and a competitive equity package.
