The Role:

As an experienced Cloud Security Engineer, this role covers the full spectrum of cloud security needs, from defining and implementing identity and access management and securely configuring cloud environments. Reporting to our Director of IT and Security Compliance you will remotely support the entire organization’s cloud support needs. You will design, build, maintain, and enhance authentication, monitoring, and security services in AWS (primarily), GCP, and Azure. You will also proactively investigate and mitigate cloud security incidents. You’ll also be a crucial player helping Newsela optimize its existing cloud environment working exclusively within the IT and Security team continuing to drive ongoing productivity advances across the company and scale our cloud infrastructure as we continue to grow in the US (and possibly internationally over the coming years).

Why You'll Love This Role:

You’ll have a rewarding opportunity to optimize and build upon a progressive cloud infrastructure, and the opportunity to create processes and procedures for all-things employee tech. You’ll get to leverage your leadership skills, your tech savvy, and your love of being on the front lines supporting end-users. Help Newsela strategically execute service design and application development and coding. On top of that, you’ll get to give back through your work by supporting a company that is having a tremendous impact on learning improvements in K-12 schools, regardless of reading level, gender, ethnicity, cultural, or socio-economic background.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have either already implemented cloud security controls in a fast growth company, or you have 3+ years’ experience supporting one as a seasoned cloud security engineer for an organization with remote users and multiple sites of 500+ users. You are a Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or have CCSK certification. You have experience preparing hands-on experience configuring AWS IAM, GuardDuty & other native security tools.  You’re comfortable in customer facing and executive level audiences who are strategic and hands on. You’re passionate about technology working seamlessly, enhancing authentication, monitoring, and security services in AWS, GCP and Azure. You love finding ways to take complex (or technical) learning and turn that into easily digestible training and documentation that helps employees fully use cloud tools at their disposal and integrates into the way they currently work. On top of that, you proactively investigate and mitigate cloud security incidents. Bonus points if you have experience with Terraform and native platforms such as Laceworks and Aqua.
