GitHub is looking for a Senior Security Researcher to join their Security Lab team (https://securitylab.github.com). The GitHub Security Lab is a security research team whose mission is to secure OSS. As a member of the GitHub Security Lab you will make a direct impact on the security of the software the world depends on.

You will do security research on important open source projects, looking for high severity vulnerabilities and working with open source maintainers to get those vulnerabilities fixed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform OSS security research, with the goal of finding high-impact vulnerabilities in important open source projects.
  • You will have a lot of freedom to choose which projects you want to focus on and which tools to use, as long as the target is open source.
  • Work with OSS maintainers to get the vulnerabilities fixed. Our goal is to help maintainers, so we aim to collaborate with them rather than taking an antagonistic approach.
  • Write blog posts about your research and present at conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven track record of finding high impact vulnerabilities.
  • Exploit development experience.
  • Enthusiasm for helping to improve OSS security.
  • Enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge by writing blog posts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge by giving talks at conferences.
